Guatemala Update

I said I would keep you updated as I prepare for my mission trip to Guatemala. So I suppose I ought to announce that.....
I have all my funds needed for the trip!!!
After many months of baby-sitting, sending letters, selling raffle tickets, selling homemade salsa, and praying ever so earnestly, I have finally reached my fundraising goal and the last payment is officially in the mail. What a great feeling!
I'd like to thank everyone who has helped by hiring me, buying fundraising items, giving generous donations, and praying for me! I'm very blessed to have so many wonderful friends who are so supportive.
I know God is working in the lives of everyone going to Guatemala this summer. I also know that he's working to bless everyone who is helping us go! Here's a fun anecdote I'd like to share...
My cousin Nicki (400things) helped me raise money by making a beautiful twin-size quilt that I could sell raffle tickets for. I've been selling those raffle tickets for quite a while, and the drawing was to be held at the annual silent auction our church holds to raise money for missions and summer camp. During the auction several people were taking advantage of their last chance to buy tickets for the quilt, some buying as many as 12 tickets at a time. Then Nicki's husband came to the table and bought one ticket. "She'll be surprised if it's my ticket that wins it back for her," he said. I thought that was really sweet, but didn't think he'd win, considering how many tickets everyone else was buying. However, when it came time for the drawing, I closed my eyes and reached down to the bottom of the bowl...and who's ticket did I draw? That's right! He won the quilt back for Nicki with one little ticket. She was so excited! Now Nicki can enjoy the fruit of her hard labor, and I still raised a lot of money for the trip! Just goes to show you how God chooses to bless us, even with little things like winning your own quilt back through a raffle.
Please continue to pray for me and everyone going on this trip! Prayer is the most important thing on the mission field.

Protests Sweep America!

Perhaps you haven't heard. Perhaps you weren't watching. Perhaps you didn't participate. But you can't change the fact that it happened!
Yesterday thousands of Americans gathered together under the theme: Taxed Enough Already! Tea Parties were held in every state in thousands of towns. Even though taxation without representation and the out-of-control government spending were the main items that originally incited the Tax Day Tea Parties, patriots marched and carried signs for several reasons. But everyone who participated rallied around one central idea; that we need to take our country back!
I attended a Tea Party in Sherman, Texas, with my mom and my cousins. We worried that there would be a low turn-out. But as we started nearing the Grayson County courthouse at 10:30 in the morning, the streets were already lined with cars! We saw protesters circling the courthouse lawn with signs, and a huge crowd - over 200 people - was assembled around the courthouse steps! It was so amazing and encouraging to see and talk with so many more people who are also aware of our nation's jeopardy.
There was a bullhorn at the top of the steps for anyone who wanted to speak to the crowd. My cousin, Nicki (400things), and I decided to take the opportunity. Nicki gave a speech based on one of her recent blog posts, "Rebellion." I think that every protester who heard her agreed that rebellion is an American tradition, and that we must rebel if we want to preserve our great nation and our personal rights! Then I was able to give Ronald Reagan's Inaugural Address (the one I posted a while back) through the bullhorn. It was wonderful to hear so many people clap and cheer at his words, which are so applicable to America's present state. Afterwards we had the privilege of being interviewed by the the local TV channel and the local newspaper.
I can't say that the media did the best job reporting the Tea Parties, but I am thankful that they covered it! No one can deny what happened yesterday, although the President denies that he knew anything about the Tea Parties. However, thousands of people also sent tea labels to the Whitehouse in protest, so if he truly didn't know about them, (very doubtful) he will soon.
I wonder if the Obama Administration will view what happened yesterday as an act of terrorism. Obama has forbidden the term "War on Terror" in reference to the war going on in the Middle East right now, but he has also warned law enforcement of "Extreme Right-Wing Terrorist"! Yes, now the politically correct term for the War on Terror is the Overseas Contingency Operation. And this is the warning that was sent out about anyone holding Conservative views (which probably includes you): http://video1.washingtontimes.com/video/extremismreport.pdf. Read it. You will be shocked.
But this is not the last they will hear from us. Other Tea Parties are already scheduled! Find out when the next Tea Party is near you, and participate!!

Tea Party, Anyone?

On December 16, 1773, Boston residents participated in what is famously and historically known as the Boston Tea Party. It was their way of protesting the taxation without representation.
Well, you know about the Stimulus Bill and the endless mound of debt that is now being created for future generations. This is not meant to stimulate the economy out of recession. It's a scheme, a scheme to enlarge government control. It's a scheme to punish hardworking, patriotic Americans and reward the apathetic people who are too lazy to help themselves. It's a sugar-coated way of turning America socialist. It's ridiculous and preposterous. And it's time for another Tea Party.
On April 15th, in one week from today, Americans all over the country will gather to protest the socialist take-over of our blessed country.
Our President has literally shamed and insulted America on his European tour. A few disgusting things that happened on the trip...
The President of the United States of America bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia.
The President of the United States of America apologized for America's "arrogance."
The President of the United States of America declared this (yet again) in Turkey: "We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation, a Jewish nation, or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens..."
And the President thinks there is such a language as "Austrian?" (Yes, he actually said that.)
I've posted time and again about the horrible things that are happening to the great nation of America. But here's a chance to take our country back!

Oh, and guess what? Perhaps the biggest Tea Party will be taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, and Jonathan Krohn will be speaking alongside Sean Hannity! Is that awesome or what?

Jonathan Krohn

I have found another amazing kid! Jonathan Krohn (check out his website!!) is a 14-year-0ld who published his first book at age 13. The book is Define Conservatism, and it does just that. Define Conservatism sounds amazing. I could try to give you a quick synopsis, but instead I urge you to visit his website, defineconservatism.com, and read about the book yourself. Then I suggest you read the book. I personally can't wait to get my hands on it.
I actually found out about J. Krohn when my friend sent me an email of a speech he had given at a CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference.) When I watched the video my jaw literally dropped and hit the keyboard. This kid has got it down! I'm beginning to think that perhaps there is a godly generation rising up who will fight for America! I know I am one in that generation, and the more I look around, the more I find. I know there are tons of teens out there who believe in the right things, but they are afraid to speak out. And there are those who would believe in the right things were they educated properly.
Teens of America, we are the ones who will determine whether or not America continues down the wrong path or returns to its founding principles. We can start making a difference now, but we have to make our voices heard, just like Jonathan and Lia (abortion video.) We have to speak out every chance we get. By sharing our own beliefs we will catch the attention of friends and peers, educating them and getting them involved. You may think that it takes a genius or a prodigy to make an impact in the way Jonathan and Lia have, but it doesn't. It just takes someone who is willing. And that truth is from the Bible itself.
Back to Jonathan. Please watch this video. There are actually two videos on the page, and they would both be well worth your while. We should keep our eye on Jonathan Krohn.
